A Vandalia man has been charged with one count of grooming following his arrest on Friday. 21-year old Tony L. Kruger is charged with one count of grooming as information states that Krueger is alleged to have “knowingly used a device capable of electronic data storage or transmission to solicit the victim, a child, or another person believed by the person to be a child, to commit the offense of Criminal Sexual Abuse” or to “otherwise engage in any unlawful sexual conduct with a child or with another person believed by the person to be a child in that the defendant sent text messages to a phone belonging to the victim asking if the victim wants to have sex.” The charge is a Class 4 felony which is punishable by 1 to 3 years in prison. Krueger made an appearance in Fayette County Court on Tuesday and bond has been set at $15,000 and Krueger remains in the Fayette County Jail. He will make his first appearance with counsel for a preliminary hearing on June 2 at 11am.
