(Springfield, IL) — Illinois’ 100th General Assembly could see two of the most trying years in the state’s history. New and old lawmakers alike took their oath of office yesterday. They now have to get to work on a state budget for the next six months, and a budget for the year after that. Illinois is also dealing with an eleven-billion-dollar backlog of bills and over 130-billion dollars in pension debt.
