(Chicago, IL) — The state’s unemployment rate is moving in the wrong direction after five months of flat or falling numbers. The Illinois jobless rate of five-point-six-percent in October was up slightly from five-point-five in September, though there was a net gain of 22-hundred jobs. State employment spokesman Bob Gough says the state continues to grow more slowly than the rest of the country. Job gains were seen in professional and business services, government and manufacturing.
