Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Millions of vehicles with Takata air bags are being slapped with a “Do Not Drive” warning by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration following a recall. The warning was issued for certain Acura, BMW, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Infiniti, Mazda, Nissan, Pontiac, and Toyota vehicles including 2007 to 2016 Jeep Wranglers, 2005 to 2015 Dodge Chargers, and 2007 to 2015 Mazda CX-Nines.
According to the NHTSA, test data on the defective Takata air bag inflators in these vehicles show a far higher risk of ruptures during air bag deployment than for other recalled Takata air bags. Drivers can see if their car is affected by using NHTSA’s Recalls Lookup Tool, and those with impacted vehicles can take them to their local dealership for free repair.
