Teutopolis, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Teutopolis Board of Education recently made personnel moves at their meeting on Monday.
The following action was taken at the meeting:
- The Board recognized guests and public comments.
- The Board approved the Treasurer’s Reports and the Payment of Bills as presented.
- The Board approved the minutes from the regular board meeting of March 13, 2023.
- The Board approved the renewal of our Financial Software for 2023-24.
- The Board set a Special Reorganizational Meeting for May 1, 2023.
- The Board approved student participation in the FFA State Convention.
- The Board approved Student Teachers at TGS for Fall 2023: Jordyn Koester with Laurie Drees at TGS and Isabel Lee with Randi Yager and Mary Jo Kreke.
- The Board awarded the low bid contractor, Otto Baum, and authorized the completion of the High School Tuckpointing Phase 2 project as designed by the district architect. This project is being completed with a matching $50,000 state maintenance grant previously approved by the Board. This Phase 2 will complete the two–story elevation of our High School Gym.
- The Board discussed the Handbook Committee recommended for the 2023-24 Student/Parent Handbook. No action was taken and further discussion is anticipated with potential action in May. 10.
- Presentation of reports to the Board included:
- Kindergarten registration numbers are such that the district has posted a fifth teaching position for 2023-24.
- Kansas City Robotics Field Trip highlights
- Superintendent Report: Work Comp renewal is expected in May/June; Facility long–range planning discussions with the architect have begun; THS Musical (April 21-22) with the new TGS Sound System; Press Policy Update 111 for discussion in May/June Tentative Budget Amendment in May
- The Board accepted the irrevocable letter of retirement/resignation from: Kathy Mitchell as TGS 6–Hour Cook, Cassie Carpenter as Scholar Bowl Sponsor, Nicole Lustig as TGS Special Ed Teacher, Amber Rose as TGS 2–Hour Custodian, and Andy Mersman as JV Tennis Coach.
- The Board assigned/approved to hire the following–contingent upon their successfully completing all employment requirements: Marcia Niebrugge reassigned to THS Special Ed, Jenna Funneman as TGS Special Ed Teacher, Jessica Phillips as TGS Special Ed Teacher, Lois Overbeck as TJHS 3–Hour Cook, Rick Julius as Groundskeeper, Tim Runde as Tech Support Specialist, Student Diversified Occupation Workers and Summer Workers List as presented.
The next Regular Board of Education Meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2023.
