Altamont Keeps Winning Into The New Year, Win 77-53 Over Shelbyville

Altamont starts off 2023 the same way they finished 2022, with a win.  Another double digit win at that 77-53 over Shelbyville.

It was a sluggish start for the Indians, as they fell behind early. Shelbyville jumped out to a 5-1 lead  but then Altamont would get it going and in particular from beyond the arc. Dillan Elam got one to fall and it was back to back threes from Avery Jahraus for Altamont to take the lead 9-7.  But a few turnovers from Altamont in the opening quarter had the score tied at 14 after one.

Then it was a game of runs in the second. Altamont would start the quarter on an 11-0 run, thanks to another Jahraus three and six points from Mason Robinson to take the 25-14 lead. The Rams would comeback and get right in it. Shelbyville went on a 7-0 run cut the lead to four, 25-21 thanks to threes from Ethan Wells and Mason Jones.  Another three ball from Altamont’s Aden McManaway and another run by the Indians to close out the quarter leading 32-24 at the half.

Altamont would extend their lead in the second half, taking advantage of some turnovers and got some big shots from Robinson and Jahraus. Robinson would pour in nine in the quarter. Jahraus would continue to be on fire from range, as he made three more to put he’s total up to six on the night.  Altamont would outscore the Rams 24-12 to extend the lead to 20, 56-36 after three quarters.

Indians would put it away in the fourth with buckets from Jared Hammer would was in double figures with 10 and a couple more threes from Eli Miller and Kaden Davis to go on to win 77-53.

Altamont improves to 11-3 on the season. Indians are back in action on Friday at home vs Dieterich.

Shelbyville falls to 9-8 on the season. Rams are back in action on Friday vs Tuscola
