Cumberland County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12:
WHAT: Three Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injuries
WHERE: North Illinois Route 130, just north of Interstate 70, Cumberland County
WHEN: July 6, 2022 at 10:50 a.m.
VEHICLES: Unit 1 – Gray 2014 Dodge Journey
Unit 2 – White 2019 Honda CRV
Unit 3 – Silver 1996 Honda CRV
DRIVERS: Unit 1 – Ashley N. Kemper, a 28-year-old female from Greenup, IL – Refused medical attention.
Unit 2 – Donna M. Glenn, a 71-year-old female from Greenup, IL- Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Unit 3 – Samantha N. Austin, a 27-year-old female from Charleston, IL – Refused medical attention.
PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 3 was stopped by a construction flagman just over a hill crest, facing northbound, behind several other vehicles. Unit 2 was stopped directly behind Unit 3. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on North Illinois Route 130. Unit 1 rear-ended Unit 2, pushing Unit 2 into Unit 3. The driver of Unit 2 was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The drivers of Units 1 and 3 refused medical attention. No further information will be disseminated.
CHARGES: The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
