Altamont and South Central met up on Friday for the right to go to the St. Anthony Sectional as regional champions. Tt would the Cougars advancing on while the Indians season came to a sudden end.
The game started out with what would end up being the story of the night and that story would be named Aidan Dodson. As Dodson would lead the South Central charge in the first quarter scoring 9 of the teams 11 points. Altamont would hang around in the quarter thanks to their 11-3 rebounding advantage. Mostly coming from the offensive end. Eric Kollmann would benefit from most of the offensive boards putting in four in the quarter as South Central lead 11-9 after one.
Kollmann would end up doing more of the same in the following quarter having 8 points in the half. Dodson would continue his scoring onslaught, having 15 points at the break. Altamont would cut into the lead and end the quarter strong with a Logan Cornett three, to cut the lead to just one at the half 21-20.
Nothing would change out of the locker room as Dodson would score immediately to start the 3rd and would finish with 7 in the quarter. This quarter belonged to Altamont senior Will Schultz, who would knock down a three and get himself some put backs and score 9 in the quarter. Schultz points along with big threes from Mason Robinson and Noah Klimpel, had the Indians up 35-30 at point. It would be the Cougars who ended strong tying up the score at 37 after three.
The final quarter would belong to South Central. Spencer Johannes and stop if you heard this before Dodson both would combine for 12 in the final quarter. Dodson would finish with 29 points in the game. Some missed free throws would keep Altamont in it, hanging by a thread but could never make that big play in the final quarter. South Central would go on to win 56-50.
South Central improves to 26-7 and advances on to the St. Anthony sectional semi finals to take on Meridian, who defeated Neoga to win the Stew-Stras Regional.
Altamont ends the season before they were ready for it to end. The Indians finish the season 26-7.
