In rematch of the first game of the year, it was a different day but the result was the same, a three point victory for Neoga 57-54.
Neoga came out of the gates strong taking the early lead but it was Altamont with the strong finish to the opening quarter to gain the lead 14-10 after one quarter.
Altamont continued the momentum into the second quarter but this time it was Neoga with the strong end to the quarter to cut the double digit lead down to 28-20 at halftime.
Neoga would use that momentum that they took into the locker room to turn the game around in their favor when they returned for the third quarter. Neoga outscored Altamont 23-9 in the third to take their first lead of the game since leading in the very early going leading 43-37 at quarters end.
In the final quarter both teams traded buckets and leads but their was a big moment on senior night. With less than three minutes to go in the game senior Brooke Runge, nailed a three to give Altamont the lead 52-51. Maybe more importantly gave the senior 1,000 points in her high school career. The great personal achievement was bitter sweet however as Neoga would go on to win the game, with some clutch buckets from sophomore Sydeny Richards. Neoga did leave the door open for game tying buckets with some missed free throws but Neoga would ultimately go on to win 57-54.
Unlike last time these two squads this time the game counted towards the National Trail Conference. Neoga improves to 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in the NTC. Altamont falls to 4-2 and 2-1 in the NTC.
Next up for the Altamont Indians is a game on Saturday against Newton.
