The Altamont Lady Indians dropped their season opening game 68-65 to the Neoga Lady Indians on Monday night.
The beginning of the game started with some turnover by both squads but that is to be excepted even in normal season circumstances. Neoga controlled the offensive glass for most of the game gaining the first quarter advantage 14-11. Altamont would turn some turnovers into fast break points and battled back from the slow start and explode for 21 second quarter points. However not to be out done Neoga had their own 20 point quarter in the 3rd to take the lead back.
Neoga would take advantage on the boards and by making their free throws down the stretch to come out with the win. One bright spot for the Lady Indians in orange and white was freshman Grace Nelson coming out and scoring in sorts of ways and dropping 40 points in her varsity debut. Not a bad first impression at the varsity basketball level. The next closest scorer for Altamont was senior Brooke Runge with 8 points.
Neoga had a more balanced attack having four players in double figures lead by Avery Fearday with 14 followed by Abbi Hatton, Kaylee Phillips and Audrey Ramert all with 12 points.
Altamont is now 0-1 to begin the season and look to bounce back on Thursday as they travel to Farina and take on the Lady Cougars from South Central. Neoga now 1-0 on the season and take is also back in action on Thursday as they take on Dieterich.
