Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The following information comes from the Mattoon Police Department:
Mattoon Police arrested Kenneth R. Reeves, 53 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Possession of Methamphetamine.
The arrest occurred on 1/22/21 at 2:05pm in the 1200 block of Charleston Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 1/22/21, police stopped a vehicle Mr. Reeves was operating for traffic violations, at which time Mr. Reeves was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Mr. Reeves was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Slade N. Easter, 19 years of age of Mattoon, for the offenses of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Heroin and LSD, and Armed Violence.
The arrest occurred on 1/23/21 at 4:43am in the 400 block of N. 14th Street in Mattoon. The charges allege on 1/23/21 while in the 400 block of 14th Street, police made contact with Mr. Easter during a drug investigation. While speaking with Mr. Easter, it was discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine, heroin, LSD, and a handgun. He was charged with armed violence due to being in possession of the handgun while committing the felonies of possessing the illegal drugs. Mr. Easter was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Robert G. Veach, 39 years of age of Mattoon, for an active IDOC arrest warrant, as well as for the offenses of Possession of Methamphetamine, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Obstructing Justice.
The arrest occurred on 1/23/21 at 3:04pm in the 2800 block of Pine Ave in Mattoon. The charges allege that on 1/23/21 while in the 2800 block of Pine, police made contact with Mr. Veach, and took him into custody for the IDOC warrant. During this time, Mr. Veach was found to be in possession of individually packaged baggies of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and 9mm ammunition. It is illegal for Mr. Veach to possess ammunition due to being a prior felon. Mr. Veach was charged with obstruction of justice for damaging evidence by way of swallowing heroin upon police making contact with him. Mr. Veach was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Brittany S. Winford, 34 years of age of Chicago, IL, for the offense of Fugitive from Justice.
The arrest occurred on 1/24/21 at 3:46pm in the 1800 block of Western Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges on 1/24/21 police made contact with Ms. Winford in the 1800 block of Western Ave, and discovered Ms. Winford to have an active out of state warrant out of Summer County, TN for the offense of Filing a False Report. Ms. Winford was taken to the Coles County Jail pending extradition.
