Decatur, IL -(Effingham Radio)- HSHS Medical Group welcomed Benefi Center for Women, formerly Vita, with an open house and blessing event Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
Speakers included HSHS Medical Group’s Melinda Clark, chief executive officer, and Loren Hughes, MD, president. Other speakers included Jeff Pfeiffer, MD, former owner of Vita; Julie Moore-Wolfe, mayor of the City of Decatur; and Mirinda Rothrock with the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce. A blessing was offered by Fr. Rick Weltin of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Vita was founded in 2011 with a mission to provide the highest level of women’s health care. On October 21, 2019, Vita became HSHS Medical Group Benefi Center for Women. The Latin root meaning of Benefi is “a well you,” signifying our focus on helping women achieve their best possible health. Providing access to comprehensive, all-encompassing health care services, the medical team includes physicians, advanced practice clinicians and certified midwives. Benefi Center for Women provides generalized obstetrics and gynecology services, including high-risk obstetrics, well visits, exams and robotic surgery. It is one of the largest gynecology groups in Illinois with all the surgeons trained in da Vinci robotic surgery. Other services include a comprehensive weight-loss program, a full line of aesthetic services, integrative medicine and functional medicine.
“At HSHS Medical Group, our promise is patient-first care. We believe that every encounter with a patient is an opportunity to create an outstanding patient experience. We know that our new colleagues at Benefi also find joy in providing outstanding care,” said Clark.
“Our fellow HSHS ministry, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, opened the Wiesemann Women’s Center this fall,” said Dr. Hughes. “We are pleased to partner with them to offer 24/7 midwives in the hospital, as well as the new da Vinci robotic surgery. We look forward to continuing to work together to offer complete women’s health care to the Decatur area.”
“Joining HSHS Medical Group was a natural choice for the future of Vita Center for Women,” said Dr. Pfeiffer. “HSHS Medical Group’s focus on patient-first care and their constant pursuit of innovative health care aligned with our own values at Vita. HSHS Medical Group can take us to the next level while we continue to offer the best care possible to our patients.”
Benefi Center for Women has locations at 544 W. Pershing Rd., Decatur, Illinois; 1750 E. Lakeshore Dr., Decatur, Illinois; 101 E. 9th St., Pana, Illinois; 2 W.
