SALEM, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Two people were injured in an accident that occurred on Friday south of Salem.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on I-57 southbound at exit 109, six miles south of Salem, at 12:45pm.
The report states that a vehicle driven by 30 year old, Joseph C Ricks, of Decatur was traveling on I-57 southbound when his vehicle began to hydroplane.
The vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail.
Ricks and his passenger, 20 year old, Dominique J Smith, of Decatur were taken to Salem Hospital for treatment.
Ricks was cited for unsafe tires.
