EFFINGHAM, IL-(Effingham Radio)- An Effingham teen was recently taken into custody in connection with a burglary from a motor vehicle.
18 year old, Daniel C Lankford, of Effingham was taken into custody by the Effingham Police Department on Monday, May 28th.
We spoke with Effingham City Police Chief Fuesting regarding the arrest of Lankford.
According to Fuesting, the Department received a call on the 28th about a vehicle that had allegedly been unlawfully entered over night and that items from within the vehicle were missing.
This occurred in the 200 block of Wernsing in the overnight hours.
Later that day, the Department received a call that someone was allegedly attempting to use the victim’s credit cards at the Effingham Walmart.
Officers then arrived at Walmart and conducted an investigation, identifying the suspect.
He was then taken into custody in the Walmart parking lot, where numerous items belonging to victim were found on his person.
According to Judici.com, Lankford appeared in Effingham County Court on Tuesday.
The charges were explained to Lankford and his bond was set at $36,000 with the condition of no drugs/alcohol.
He was charged with two counts of Burglary without causing damage, a Class 3 Felony.
The Effingham Police Department is encouraging citizens within the immediate area to contact the Police Department if they believe that their vehicle has been unlawfully entered or burglarized.
All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
