(Springfield, IL) — A ban on tackle football for younger kids is a step closer to becoming a reality. An Illinois House panel yesterday approved the plan to outlaw organized tackle football for kids under the age of twelve. Supporters say younger kids are at a higher risk for brain injuries. Lawmakers, though, aren’t sold on the way the law is written, so the proposal may still have a ways to go before it is ready for a vote.
