(Chicago, IL) — One Illinois lawmaker wants to ban tackle football for kids younger than 12-years-old. Democratic state Rep Carol Sente yesterday unveiled a plan that she says will help reduce the number of brain injuries among young football players. Her idea is to ban all organized, tackle football leagues for players who are eleven or younger. But a number of youth football coaches across the state say the requirement could backfire and lead to a lot more injuries when youngsters start playing football and are hit for the first time.
