This weekend you’ll notice a change to the Effingham Fire Station #1 and City Hall.
The two buildings will be illuminated this weekend in blue and red lights, starting Friday evening. The reason for the colored lighting is to honor the 95 fire men and women that will have their names added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland this weekend. This weekend, the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation will sponsor the official national tribute to the brave fire men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Every year, thousands of people attend the services.
