(Chicago, IL) — The head of Chicago’s aviation department says the aviation officers involved in last month’s passenger-dragging incident at O’Hare violated department policies. Commissioner Ginger Evans told a U.S. Senate panel yesterday that force should only be used when absolutely necessary to protect the security and safety of passengers. Video showing the officers removing Dr. David Dao from the United flight went viral, sparking widespread outrage. The officers have been suspended pending the outcome of a probe by the city’s inspector general.
