The ongoing Effingham tradition “Wonderland in Lights,” put on by the Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), returns 5-9 p.m. this Thanksgiving in Community Park. According to Effingham Tourism Director Jodi Thoele, the annual drive-through Christmas light display has been a well loved community activity for over ten years. Since its inception, its been growing each year.
“Wonderland in Lights” runs from Thanksgiving though New Year’s and will be open from 5-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 5-10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, Santa will be visiting on Saturdays with goodies for the kids.
While there is cost to drive though the display, donations are appreciated. Thoele said that all donations go into funding and growing the event for the next year. The Effingham Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is looking for volunteers to help staff this year’s display. Volunteers will be handing out candy canes and collecting donations.
