The Illinois State Police have announced the results of a roadside safety check conducted last week in Fayette County. The RSC was held in the late hours of Friday, May 13th and the early hours Saturday, May 14. It was conducted by ISP District 12 Officers.
The main purpose of RSCs are to remove alcohol-impaired drivers as alcohol is involved in nearly 40% of fatal crashes in the state. Law enforcement action may be taken for other offences, such as driving with a suspended or revoked licence, if observed during an RSC. The follow citations were issued during the Fayette County Check:
