Max Scherzer tossed a gem as the Nationals folded the Cardinals, 6-1, in St. Louis. Scherzer threw seven frames of shutout ball and struck out nine to get the win. Chris Heisey, Clint Robinson and Danny Espinosa all drilled home runs for the Nats, who completed the three-game sweep. Brandon Moss prevented the shutout with a ninth inning homer for the Cards. Carlos Martinez gave up four runs over six-and-two-thirds to suffer his first loss.
