The St. Louis Cardinals announced to sets of main roster cuts over the weekend.
To start the day the Cardinals announced six player moves with infielders Dean Anna and Aledmys Diaz being optioned to Memphis (AAA), and catcher Carson Kelly and pitchers Austin Gomber, Jeremy Hefner and Deck McGuire being re-assigned to minor league camp. The Cardinals then announced a second round of roster cuts following their game, optioning outfielder Anthony Garcia to Memphis (AAA) and re-assigning infielders Jonathan Rodriguez and Patrick Wisdom to minor league camp.
The Cardinals then on Monday announced that pitcher Marco Gonzalez had been optioned to Memphis (AAA), reducing the number of players in camp to 40, including six non-roster invitees.
Following the moves, the Cardinals spring roster currently has 20 pitchers (1 non-roster); 4 catchers (1 non-roster); 10 infielders (2 non-roster) and 6 outfielders (2 non-roster).
