There were no injuries this morning when a St. Elmo residence caught fire, however the home is considered a total loss. The fire occurred at approximately 2:20am Thursday at a home located about four miles north of St. Elmo. St. Elmo Fire Chief Doug Engeljohn says the fire started in the laundry room around of the home. Firefighters from several area departments were called to assist at the scene, including Brownstown and Altamont.
