Free Tax Preparation & Help to anyone over 55
Marshall Public Library is offering free tax preparation help to anyone 55 and older or who can't afford a tax preparation service. Volunteers have been trained through the Tax-Aide program in cooperation with the IRS and will provide this confidential tax preparation service at no charge. Assistance is by appointment only and will take place in the library. This service will begin February 6th and continue through April 12th.
Persons interested in receiving free tax assistance may call the library to schedule an appointment. Assistance will be available during select hours each week. Please bring last year’s 2022 income tax forms, a photo ID, Social Security Card, and all supporting documentation. Spouses who file jointly must both be present. The volunteers will not complete returns for which they are not trained, including business and farm returns.
A limited supply of tax forms will be available at the library for free while quantities last. Most forms can be downloaded from the IRS website at www.irs.gov/forms, which may be done at the library.
Marshall Public Library is located at 612 Archer Avenue, in Marshall, and is handicapped accessible. Contact the library by calling 217-826-2535 or emailing marshallpubliclibrary@gmail.com for an appointment or more information on these and other library services.
