The Effingham City Council will meet at 6:00 Tuesday night to discuss TIF District Plan Amendments. The amendments clarify the final year of payment.
The city council will also discuss a rezoning petition that would change a single-family residence at 1000 South Fourth Street to a two-family residence. The plan commission denied the petition initially and there was extensive discussion on the issue at last month’s city council meeting. Residents in the neighborhood have complained that the property has been neglected over the years, while the property owner contends that they have not been able to work on the property due to miscommunication with the city. The owners are wanting to turn the property into a duplex and rent it out.
The council is also set to honor Morrow Shoe and Boot with the Business Appreciation Award.
