(Springfield, IL) — The new woman in charge of paying the state’s bills says she’s going to keep lawmakers at the back of the line to be paid. Susana Mendoza took the oath as Illinois comptroller yesterday. She won a special election in November. Mendoza inherits a ten-billion-dollar backlog of unpaid bills. She says she wants to focus on the most needy on that list first.
