Arsenic and Old Lace, presented by Three Chicks and a Stage, is coming to the Effingham Performance Center. The comedy show will be putting on three performances, Friday September 9th at 7:00pm, Saturday September 10th at 7:00pm, and Sunday September 11th at 2:00pm.
Billed as “one of American theatre’s funniest comedies”, Arsenic and Old Lace is about Drama critic Mortimer Brewster. Brewster is wondering if his fiance, Elaine Harper, will fit in with his eccentric family. Brewster has learned that his spinster aunts, Abby and Martha Brewster, known throughout Brooklyn for their kindness, have been relieving old men’s loneliness by giving them elderberry wine laced with arsenic, strychnine and cyanide. Also, their brother is under the impression that he is Theodore Roosevelt.
Tickets for the shows are on sale at the EPC. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $12.50 for children aged 12 and younger. You can purchase them by calling 217-540-2788 or by visiting the Effingham Performance Center at 1325 Outer Belt West in Effingham. Box office hours are Monday-Friday 10:00am to 4:00pm, Wednesday 10:00am to 6:00pm, and Saturday 10:00am to 3:00pm.
