Four area residents were given vehicles in the third Annual Wheels To Prosper Giveaway on Saturday. The goal of the giveaway is to provide reliable vehicles for individuals who make a positive impact in the community. Local repair shops and auto dealers provide the vehicles that are given away and community members nominate deserving people. This year, four vehicles were given away by Probst Auto Body, Teutopolis Auto Sales, Webster Tire and Auto, CW Motorsports, and an anonymous donor.
Tyrone Harvey, one of the vehicle recipients, runs a men’s shelter in Effingham. He said that the new car would be helpful to him and his wife.
“It just helps us out so much,” Harvey said. “My wife, she’s very frail. She deals with Lupus so she’s got to go back and forth to the hospital quite a bit. You know so, I get choked up when I think about, they just gave us a car so I can still get her to the hospital and to her appointments.”
Other winners on Saturday were Eric Petticrew, Debbie Cisney, and Tina Purcell.
