The White Sox got their only run on a Ranaudo solo home run in the fifth. The Cubs tied the game in the sixth on a Kris Bryant solo home run. The Cubs took the lead in the seventh on a Báez two run home run. The Cubs then added 5 runs in the eighth on a Zobrist RBI double and a Russell Grand Slam to take a 8-1 lead.
Hammel got the win improving to 10-5 on the year. Hammel gave up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 7 and walking 2 over 7 innings. New Cub Aroldis Chapman made his debut in the ninth, striking out two batters. Ranaudo took the loss for the White Sox. Ranaudo gave up 3 runs on 2 hits while striking out 3 and walking 4 over 6 and 2/3 innings.
