(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is approving a bill to expand funding for early childhood education. Illinois First Lady Diana Rauner was among the invited guests at the bill signing Thursday. The law passed as part of the stopgap state budget includes more money for pre-k service providers. Diana Rauner was among those who lobbied for the change in her role as head of the advocacy group, Ounce of Prevention Fund. She applauded the fact that the new law ensures that eventually 20-percent of early childhood funding will now be spent on educational services for kids from birth to age three.
