The Cubs had the home run working as they hit 5 home runs in the 10-5 win against the Pirates to complete the sweep.
The Cubs scored first with a Rizzo RBI single in the bottom of the first. The Cubs added another run in the second with a Báez home run to make it 2-0. The Cubs then added 2 runs in the bottom of the third thanks to back to back home runs from Bryant and Rizzo to take a 4-0 lead. The Pirates gained a run thanks to a Harrison home run in the fourth to make it 4-1. The Cubs got another home run, this time from rookie catcher Contreras, to make it 5-1. The Pirates came back with a two run triple by Marte and a RBI single by Kang in the top of the seventh to make it 6-4. The Cubs came back with a Rizzo RBI single, a Zobrist RBI, and a Russell two run home run to take a 10-4 lead after seven innings. The Pirates were able to score a run in the top of the ninth on a McCutchen RBI to make it 10-5.
Hendricks got the win to go to 5-6 on the season. Hendricks gave up 1 run on 7 hits while striking out 12 over 6 innings. Taillon took the loss falling to 1-1 on the season. Taillon gave up 4 runs on 8 hits whole striking out 5 and walking 1 over 4 innings.
The Cubs will take on the Cardinals Monday at 6:55.
