State Senator Dale Righter, of Illinois’ 55th District, criticized Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan after a second week of cancelling session dates. The state is still without a budget or funding for public schools in the fall.
With the end the of the Spring Legislative Session in May, any new legislation will require a super majority to pass.
Senator Righter suggested that in order to get a budget passed, lawmakers would need to reduce Illinois’ spending. He said that public assistance be one area for reform.
