State Police in District 12 are reminding motorists to buckle up before getting on the road. For the remainder of the month increased patrols will be used to make sure drivers and passengers are wearing their seatbelts. The enforcement effort is part of the Click It or Ticket mobilization to reduce fatal accidents.
Fatal traffic crashes in District 12 have increased 80% this year; as compared to the same time period last year. In order to combat these rising fatal crash numbers, the Illinois State Police in District 12 will be staffing dozens of extra patrols to focus on the fatal four violations of failure to wear Seatbelt, Distracted Driving, Speeding and DUI. These four violations are most often the contributing factors in fatal crashes.
