The Mahomet-Seymour Sectional is in the books, an the Effingham Flaming Hearts girls track team will be represented at state by their 4×1600 team, Shayna Phillips, and Camryn Heuerman. Shayna Phillips advanced by winning the 800m with a time of 2:19:58. She is also on the State Qualifying 4×1600 team with Miranda Fox, Kaylee Phillips, and Kiyah Kuhlman. The 4×1600 team advanced to State with a 1st place time of 4:08:38. Camryn Heuerman advanced with a second place finish in the 100m hurdles. Her time was 16:22.
As a team Effingham finished 8th. The Mahomet-Seymour Sectional was won by Monticello. Charleston placed second, with Mattoon finishing fifth.
The State Meet will be in Charleston at O’Brien Stadium Thursday, May 19 through Saturday, May 21.
