One individual was injured in a one vehicle accident Sunday afternoon on I-57 in Effingham County. Illinois State Police reports say that a vehicle driven by 38 year old Tadget W. Carlyle of Anna, Illinois was traveling northbound on I-57 in Effingham County on Sunday afternoon. The driver stated he was traveling at 75 miles per hour in a 70 MPH speed zone in the rain. State Police say that Carlyle’s vehicle hydroplaned causing the driver to lose control of his vehicle. The vehicle then swerved off the roadway to the left, struck a light pole and came to a resting point on the west side of the roadway in the median. Carlyle was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham for treatment. He was also ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.
