The Effingham Hearts softball team had an offensive explosion Tuesday in a 21-0 win over Beecher City Cowden Herrick. Effingham jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning, and added 8 and 9 runs in the 2nd and 4th innings.
Hope Collier and Kaylee Tonn combined for the shutout. Collier got the win, pitching two innings, with Tonn pitching three innings. They both struck out four.
Tonn also scored five runs in the game and had three RBIs, going 2 for 3 at the plate. Madison Weis had four RBIs for the Hearts, with Collier and Aly Armstrong also knocking in three runs. Effingham is now 4-2. They’ll be in action again on Friday against St. Elmo.
