Diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran are continuing despite another round of American military strikes near the Strait of Hormuz.
President Donald Trump confirmed on November 6 that U.S. forces targeted an Iranian air defense system on Qeshm Island. As detailed by the New York Post, Trump described the operation as limited while maintaining that negotiations with Tehran were making progress.
The strikes come amid continued attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for global oil supplies.
Qatar is helping mediate discussions between Washington and Tehran. One proposal under consideration would allow international nuclear inspectors to return to Iranian facilities in exchange for easing the U.S. naval blockade and releasing certain frozen Iranian funds.
Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command has established a task force aimed at restricting Iranian weapons supply networks and the movement of sensitive materials.
Iran continues to seek broader concessions from Washington before advancing nuclear negotiations. Although both countries remain engaged in diplomatic discussions, significant differences over security arrangements and Iran’s nuclear program remain unresolved.
