Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- If you drive a BMW, you may be taking it to the dealer soon. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administrator says the German automaker is recalling more than 29 thousand BMWs in the U.S. due to an issue that can increase the risk of a fire. The problem is the engine starter, which may corrode. That could cause the vehicle to overheat or short-circuit and catch fire.
Included in the recall are the BMW 530e xDrive and 740Le xDrive, along with certain iPerformance vehicles.
BMW has also added a new warning to this recall.
This week the German automaker announced it was recalling nearly 30 thousand luxury-plug in cars due to a fire risk linked to the engine starter. Now the company’s advising owners of affected models to park outside until their vehicles can be inspected and repaired.
