Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- On Thursday, May 7, 2026, Lake Land College was one of 9,000 colleges impacted by a cybersecurity incident affecting Canvas, a learning management system utilized by colleges and universities across the globe. Lake Land’s IT Team closely monitored the situation and has been in communication with students, faculty and staff as updates have developed.
Students can now resume using the Canvas platform. Lake Land will continue to closely monitor the situation and will communicate any additional information.
As a precaution, students should be alert for suspicious emails and text messages. Should a student receive a message that seems suspicious, they should contact the Lake Land IT Help Desk at 217-234-5261 or email helpdesk@lakelandcollege.edu.
