Carole Lorene (Matlock) Mitchell, 83, of Farina, Illinois, passed away at 5:50 AM, Thursday, April 9, 2026, at HSHS St. Anthony Memoria Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
A private burial will be held at Trexler Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.
Carole was born on April 7, 1943, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of John and Lucille M. (Bundy) Matlock. She married Kenneth Mitchell in 1965. Carole worked as a florist for many years at the IGA in Salem, Illinois.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth Mitchell of Farina, Illinois, children Shawn Mitchell of Farina, Illinois and Stacy (Steve) Linton of Herrin, Illinois and her grandchildren Shawna Mitchell, Sam (Nicole) Mitchell, Zeke (Jaylynn) Linton and Zoey Linton.
Carole was preceded in passing by her parents and brother Herbert (Betty) Matlock.
