Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- CBS News is laying off six-percent of its staffers and shuttering its decades-old CBS News Radio service. Friday’s announcement from the Tiffany Network is the latest round of overhauls from its editor in chief, Bari Weiss, who was hired in late 2025 to reshape its news division that’s seen a sharp decline in ratings.
The six-percent slash represents about 60 employees. The closing of CBS News Radio marks the end of an historic institution. The operation started in 1927, and gained a worldwide audience with Edward R. Murrow’s World War Two reports from London.
