Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham Police Department responded to an accident with injuries on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at approximately 11:19 P.M. at the intersection of Holiday Drive and N. Maple Street.
After an initial investigation, Officers determined that an electric scooter operated by Mia G. Hayden, 26, Altamont, was struck by a golf cart driven by an unknown individual. Hayden sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital and later flown by air ambulance to Carle Hospital in Champaign.
Effingham Police Department has turned the investigation over to Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation, Zone 7, Du Quoin. No further information will be released at this time.
