
Carlyle Lake, IL-(Effingham Radio)- This fall, Carlyle Lake will be the hub for many family-friendly events hosted by local organizations in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Mark your calendars for these exciting seasonal activities:
Shoreline Clean-Up:
-September 27 – West Spillway Recreation Area
- Join park rangers from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for a shoreline clean-up in celebration of National Public Lands Day. Volunteers will help remove debris and litter from the shore. Ice Cream Social, Community Dinner, and Pawpaw Tree Giveaway
-September 27 – Carlyle Lake Visitor Center
- Starting at 4:00 p.m., enjoy delicious pawpaw tree ice cream while discovering the benefits of backyard conservation like leaf mulching and wildlife counts. This exciting event is presented by the Clinton County Soil & Water Conservation District.
Twilight Stroll:
-October 3 – Willow Pond Nature Trail
- Grab your flashlights and head out from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a spooky-themed Story Walk, hosted by Case-Halstead Public Library and the Friends of Carlyle Lake. Explore the trail and uncover eerie surprises along the way.
Sarcoma Stomp: Run for Research 5K:
-October 11 – Main Dam, Dam West Recreation Area
- Enjoy a scenic route while supporting a great cause at the Sarcoma Stomp 5K, hosted by the Bo Arvin Memorial Foundation. This event raises awareness and funds for sarcoma research. Registration can be found at runsignup.com/Race/IL/Carlyle/SarcomaStompRunforResearch
Carlyle Lake Haunted Trail:
-October 17 & 18 – Dam West Boat Ramp
- Prepare for a spine-chilling adventure at the Haunted Trail, open from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a $10 admission fee. Perfect for thrill-seekers and Halloween enthusiasts, this haunted trail promises a night of frightful fun in support of the 2026 Fireworks Spectacular.
Camper’s & Family Trick-or-Treat
-October 25 – Dam West Campground
- This festive event, held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., invites campers to enjoy trick-or-treating, participate in a campsite decorating contest, and more! This occasion is open to friends and family of registered campers with proper identification.
