Louisville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page:
County State’s Attorney Phillip M. Givens and Clay County Sheriff Andy Myers have announced that, pursuant to an ongoing investigation, a charge for Aggravated Battery was filed against Trevor J. Edwards, of Fairfield, Illinois, on April 16, 2025.
The charge alleges that on or about May 1, 2022, Trevor J. Edwards knowingly used a knife to stab a victim in the side causing bleeding. The victim had to be life-flighted from the local hospital due to serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation began that evening with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. At that time, it was difficult to narrow down the main suspect. However, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office did not give up investigating the case. Through more advanced technological services, the investigation led to the conclusion that Mr. Edwards had used the knife to stab the victim. A nationwide warrant was issued on April 23, 2025. Trevor Edwards is currently serving a Federal Prison sentence set to be released later this year.
The Clay County State’s Attorney’s Office would like to thank the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Trevin Smith for their persistent and continued investigation in this case.
The allegations in this press release are merely charges and Mr. Edwards is presumed innocent while these charges are pending until proven guilty in a court of law.
