Marcella Mae (Tarr) Street, age 91, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 2:10 PM – Friday, April 25, 2025, at Willowbrook Memory Care in Effingham, Illinois.
A service celebrating Marcella’s life will be held at 11:00 AM – Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Scott Avenue Christian Church, 404 South Scott Avenue, Newton, Illinois, with Kevin Colclasure officiating. The burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery, west of Latona, Illinois. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM – Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the church. In loving memory of Marcella, memorials may be made to the Scott Avenue Christian Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois.
Marcella was born on January 23, 1934, in Wheeler, Illinois, the daughter of Vern and Vada Belle (Shoemaker) Tarr. She married Eugene “Gene” Street on November 25, 1949, at Central Christian Church in Newton, Illinois. Together they shared 60 years of marriage until Gene passed on June 23, 2010.
Marcella worked at Newton Rest Haven and did in-home care for several years. She was also a loving wife, mother and grandmother and helped Gene farm for many years.
Marcella was a strong Christian woman and was a charter member of the Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois. She enjoyed raising flowers and gardening.
Marcella is survived by her Children Vada (Robert) Reisner of Effingham, Illinois; Donna (Lee) Elmore of Wheeler, Illinois and Rick (Patsy) Street of Wheeler, Illinois, Daughter-in-law – Mindy Street of Wheeler, Illinois, Grandchildren – Nikki (Brett) Gibson of St Charles, Missouri; Jill Cawthron of Michigan City, Indiana; Kim (Jesse) Yager of Newton, Illinois; Jamee Line of Newton, Illinois; Shad (Marcia) Street of Wendelin, Illinois; Josh Street of Morris, Illinois; Preston (Kate) Street of Newton, Illinois and Chandler (Drew) Mullenix of Champaign, Illinois, Great Grandchildren – Brock (Grace) Gibson, Morgan (Ben) Harris, Medjine Gibson, Jessa (Drew) Swearingen, Savanah Cawthron, Taylor Line (fiancé Samantha Winn), Brayden Line, Haylee Line, Hunter Yager, Mika Yager, Jacelyn Street (fiancé Justin Zumbahlen), Benjamin Street, Isaac Street, Nora Street, Alex Street, Winstyn Street, Bella Street, Amarah Street and William Street, Great-great Grandchildren – Mylah Cawthron, Isaac Swearingen, and Claire Harris, Brothers – Richard Tarr of Charleston, Illinois and Kendall (Zana) Tarr of Newton, Illinois
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Rob Street, grandsons Dan Reisner and Dalton Street, great granddaughter Eva Grace Street, three brothers Donald Tarr, Robert Tarr and Howard Tarr, three sisters Virginia Kuhring, Margaret Schultz and Norma Jean Tarr.
