Moline, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The states of Illinois and Minnesota, along with the Federal Trade Commission are suing Deere & Company. The lawsuit says the ag equipment manufacturer uses unfair practices to drive up equipment repair costs by withholding self-repair capabilities from farmers and independent repair providers. The filing says that’s a violation of federal competition laws.
In a statement, Deere & Company says the complaint is based on misrepresented facts and flawed legal theories. The company says recent upgrades to their software allows customers and independent repair technicians to reprogram Deere-manufactured components themselves.
