Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Childcare Research Committee held their regular meeting Monday and helped newly appointed County Board member Mike Buzzard get acclimated to his new role on the various committees that were formerly held by Elizabeth Huston, who resigned a few weeks ago.
The Committee announced that while they have no new applicants this month, they have requested more information on one applicant and are waiting to hear back. The biggest discussion topic was the deadline for money to be allocated for next year is in December 2024. The Committee discussed asking for an extension so they can gameplan what to focus on in the near future, with more details likely to be announced at Thursday’s Tax & Finance Committee Meeting.
There was also discussion about a new State program centered around Childcare, but Norbert Soldtwedel stated that it will take some time for the state program to get going before they look at how they can utilize the program for local purposes.
Courtney Yockey was not present for the meeting.
The next Childcare Research Committee meeting will be September 9th at 12pm.
