Cumberland Dominates in Week 1 44-0 Win Against Cerro Gordo

Cumberland scored on the very first play from scrimmage and never looked back with a 44-0 win against Cerro Gordo.

Cumberland scored just 20 seconds into the game with a 64 yard touchdown run by Blake McMechan, the first of 5 touchdown on the night for McMechan. On Cerro Gordo’s first drive it was a fumble on their first play that the Pirates were able to scoop up. Cumberland would score to go up 15-0.

The Cumberland defense would show up with a sack on the second Cerro Gordo drive and an interception on the third Cerro Gordo drive. Cumberland would continue with the domination on defense including a safety on the second quarter.

Cumberland will head on the road for week 2 as they take on Sangamon Valley.
