Clay, Jasper, Fayette, Cumberland Counties, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Below are some cooling centers available to the public in the local area. They are split up by county:
Clay County:
- Flora – Clay Co. Hospital lobby
- Xenia – Xenia Fire Department
- Clay City – Clay City Christian Church
- Louisville – Head start building on Lynn St.
If you need a shelter and no one is at the location, call the Flora Police Dept. at 662-9111 and they can get you assistance.
Jasper County:
The Jasper County Senior Center at 904 W Jourdan St, and The Jasper County Health Department at 106 E Edwards St, are open for anyone to come and cool down in-between the hours of 8-4. Call Jasper County Health Department at 618-783-4436 for details.
Fayette County:
Call the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at 618-283-2141 to see what options are available.
Cumberland County:
Toledo – Life Center In Toledo is open 8am-4pm Monday-Friday
Greenup – Offering assistance if there is a power outage
Neoga – City Building is open 7am-5pm Monday-Friday
