Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Rain is in the forecast today, but the 4th of July looks to be clear for fireworks.
An area of showers wrapping around low pressure over northern IL, will slowly shift southeast into central IL through midday. With the addition of daytime heating, a few thunderstorms and pockets of heavier rain area expected to develop by early afternoon.
Lingering low pressure will keep showers and storms across central Illinois today. There is a low chance for a few strong to severe storms east of I-55, with large hail and damaging winds the primary hazards. While July 4th may have isolated showers during the day, the evening looks rain-free for fireworks time, although it will be humid.
Additional rain is in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.
